Important Glass Specifications - Thermal transmittance (U-value)

In previous articles, BM WINDOWS introduced Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), the facade's influence on interior energy consumption is also reflected by Thermal transmittance (U-value).

Expressing the amount of heat transferred through 1m2 glass units in 1 hour, in W/(m2.K). The smaller this number is, the better the insulation will be.

Application:

According to many studies, Thermal transmittance of the building using single glass is 5.8 W/(m2.K), solar control glass is 2.3 W/(m2.K) and Low-E glass is 1.4 W/m2.K.

Therefore, glass with a low U-value index such as Low-E glass, costs higher than ordinary glass. However,  it is effective in saving energy in the long term, helping to keep the space cool in summer and warm in winter.

Metropole Crest Residence uses double glazing glass which has a low U-Value, at about 1.59 W/(m2.K) and brings better insulation efficiency than other common buildings in Ho Chi Minh City.
