Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)
Along with designing façades, BM WINDOWS insists that the choice of glass material always plays an important role. Besides the aesthetic effect, it also directly affects the energy consumption (lighting power and cooling system). To ensure thermal efficiency for the building, architects and investors can pay attention to the SHGC - Solar Heat Gain Coefficient.
SHGC is the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of glass with a value from 0 to 1. The lower this index is, the lower the amount of heat enters the interior, which means better insulation.
Application: Façades that are adversely affected by strong sunlight such as at the West, using stained glass or coated glass can significantly reduce the amount of heat transferred into the interior space. In addition, combined with the use of blinds and patios, it helps to minimize the contact area of sunlight with the glass surface.
With the Masteri Center Point project, BM WINDOWS has selected a glazing system with the SHGC of only 0.53, which is compatible with the year-round hot climate in Saigon.
