Installation of the First Modules at Long Thanh International Airport

The first modules of the Skylight Center roof system at the heart of Long Thanh International Airport have officially been installed by BM Windows. The Skylight Center is currently considered the largest skylight roof system in Vietnam, with a total area of over 11,000 square meters. It stands as one of the most complex and striking façade components of the project.

Inspired by the form of a lotus petal, the Skylight Center features a unique structure comprising 5,402 triangular glass panels and 756 entirely different profiles. To ensure absolute precision and meet the tight construction schedule, BM Windows adopted a modularization approach—assembling individual panels into large pre-fabricated modules. Each module spans 23 square meters and weighs up to 2.5 tons, lifted skyward to create a dramatic visual impact on the nation’s landmark construction site.

Following the Skylight Center, BM Windows has also begun the production phase of the project’s large-scale façade systems. In addition to rigorous technical requirements, the façade at Long Thanh International Airport presents exceptional production and installation challenges due to its oversized unitized modules (2.888 meters wide and 3.668 meters tall).

To ensure construction quality and mitigate technical risks, BM Windows has implemented a full-scale Visual Mock-Up (VMU) at the factory. This life-sized VMU simulates the entire production and installation process, allowing a thorough assessment of feasibility, precision, and critical technical factors before moving to mass production. With a total façade area of up to 50,000 square meters, BM Windows’ scope of work spans multiple key zones of the airport’s central terminal.

The first unitized panels have now been successfully installed—carrying the dedication and commitment of BM Windows to delivering this national project to completion. Long Thanh International Airport is set to become a new architectural and aviation icon of Vietnam on the global map.
