Context

Featuring a unique and complex design, the tower’s façade draws inspiration from the dragon, one of Vietnam's four sacred creatures. The panels mimic giant dragon scales directed towards West Lake. Illuminated by sunlight or urban LED lights, these scales create a shimmering effect that shifts with perspective, simulating the movement of a dragon.

Bringing this vision to life posed a significant challenge for the BM Windows team. This design was unprecedented in Vietnam, and no local façade contractor had tackled such a project before. Despite these challenges, BM Windows triumphantly devised the most optimal installation solution.

The challenge presented

The panels are set at varying angles of 0, 3, 6, and 9 degrees.

The project's 187m high unitized façade employs large, vertically rectangular panels, angled differently at 0, 3, 6, and 9 degrees to the horizontal plane. This arrangement creates a dynamic, depth-filled motion effect. The concept aims to replicate the "dragon scales'" openness, causing the light reflection to vary throughout the day and imparting a distinct hue to the building.

The project's façade integrates four distinct colors.

The choice of aluminum color plays a crucial role in the building's aesthetic, transitioning from darker to lighter shades through four distinct tones. This gradation, along with the strategically angled glass, generates an eye-catching 3D motion effect that captivates passersby.

Considerable Construction Volume

The project's "dragon scale" design is not only unique but also large-scale, featuring up to 4500 panels equipped with Low-E double glazing for enhanced strength, sound insulation, and thermal efficiency. Remarkably, some modules extend up to 7.2 meters in height, and the frameless glass walls reach 5.4 meters.

Solution

The 187m façade is characterized by panels angled at 0, 3, 6, and 9 degrees relative to the horizontal plane, achieving a compelling effect of motion and depth upon consecutive installation.
