The idea of working with aluminum and glass façade is attracting younger generation with its unique technical beauty and the chance to explore groundbreaking architectural solutions.
But who is a façade engineer? What skills do they need? What is their role in a project? And there is much more about this fascinating profession that have been revealed in BM Windows Summer Internship program - the annual series by BM Windows aims to nurture and identify potential future façade engineers.
"Portraits" of façade engineers from Gen Z' perspective
From the view of engineers-to-be, the façade works present numerous challenges but are also highly captivating. The scope ranges from initial information processing to structural calculations, material solutions, design development in drawings, and complex 3D modelling on several softwares. Obviously, roles as technical design engineers at BM Windows require both precision and continuous creativity.
This is all recounted from the firsthand experience of Phương Nam, who majors Civil Engineering Faculty from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, during his internship in the 15 Sydney Avenue project.The process of producing aluminum and glass facades is not just about machinery or modern technology but also involves much of teamwork, close and scientific coordination among various stages, and meticulous attention from workers to Manufacturing engineers, ensuring that each product is flawless with no mistakes, even the smallest, when delivered to the construction site.
This is how Đình An, a student from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, concludes after his days working at BM Windows. The exterior beauty and specific technical aspects of aluminum glass facades are what inspired Hữu Thiện, a student majoring in Civil and Industrial Engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, to embark on an internship journey with BM Windows.
From organizing to supervising construction to ensure quality and progress, Hữu Thiện has gained authentic experiences on a site full of sun and wind, yet brimming with inspiration and dynamism.
Embracing a memorable and insightful journey
Throughout the program, nearly 20 interns had the opportunity to directly perform the work of aluminum and glass engineers, from the office to the factory and construction site. In addition to learning about the internal techniques, they also experienced the working environment at BM Windows, accompanied and followed the veteran engineers here, to further deepen their passion for the beauty and meaning of aluminum and glass.
Through the journey of experiencing the practical work of façade engineers at BM Windows - a new profession but with its own beauty, the students brought back many new lessons and inspirations about façades, and promised a new generation of façade creators that have been nurtured with BM Windows.
